Hance Auditorium is a small auditorium with a planned renovation to the space. Thorburn Associates was part of Davidson College’s feasibility study to determine the goals for the renovated facility. Thorburn Associates was part of developing the acoustical design criteria that influence the facility’s overall performance.

With in person visits, Thorburn Associates conducted acoustical measurements to document the existing environment, including reverberation time, determination of surfaces that create acoustical focusing and echoes, and background noise. Thorburn Associates also focused on the technology design system for the space. By defining the end-users needs, Thorburn Associates provided recommendations for the functional requirements, an itemized preliminary equipment list for the major components, and a cost estimate.
