We designed our lunch and learns to cover what we know best while simultaneously delivering architect-centric content that focuses on the integration of acoustics, audiovisual, and lighting design. Each session allows you to gain insights that directly support your design goals and allows you to enhance your projects. The goal of our courses is to give attendees real-world applications and practical takeaways to elevate current and future builds.
Designing a building to meet the client's needs while also functioning properly through acoustics, audiovisuals, and lighting can be daunting. In our lunch and learn sessions, we look at how to incorporate proper acoustics and technical systems without compromising aesthetics or design choices. Sessions also cover the ever-evolving standards, emerging technology, and state of the art materials that all help a building meet the intended design.

Integrating the Design Process: Acoustics, Technology, and Lighting
AIA approved 1 LU|HSW credit
This session will provide understanding the impact of acoustics on architecture and how good or bad acoustical design impacts the user experience; understanding the impact of audio and visual environment on the users of architectural spaces and how good or bad design impacts the user experience; understanding the impact of lighting on architectural spaces and how good or bad lighting design impacts the user experience; understanding how proper integration of acoustical, technology, and lighting design enhances architectural design and space utilization.

- Participants will be able to determine how acoustical design will impact the user experience.

Master Class: Acoustics
AIA approved 1 LU|HSW credit
This seminar explores the ways that the Acoustical Design can affect our built environment. After a brief review on the terms of acoustics the session will begin to review case studies for: Building Code requirements for Environmental Noise, HIPAA and other Patient Care issues, LEED impact on Classroom Design.
Learning Objectives
- Participants will review the definitions of common terms.
- Participants will learn to measure background noise.
- Participants will learn to calculate reverberation times and determine locations of echoes.
- Participants will review case studies for Building Code requirements for Environmental Noise, HIPAA and other Patient Care issues, and LEED impact on Classroom Design.
Continuing Education Credits
Our Lunch & Learn sessions qualify for AIA continuing education Learning Units (LUs) and count towards health, safety, and welfare (HSW) credit. Upon completion, participants will receive a certificate of attendance. We will submit the course so that your AIA member transcript is updated. Please check each session's description for specific CE credit information.
