Integrating the Design Process: Acoustics, Technology, and Lighting

This session will provide understanding the impact of acoustics on architecture and how good or bad acoustical design impacts the user experience; understanding the impact of audio and visual environment on the users of architectural spaces and how good or bad design impacts the user experience; understanding the impact of lighting on architectural spaces and how good or bad lighting design impacts the user experience; understanding how proper integration of acoustical, technology, and lighting design enhances architectural design and space utilization.

Master Class – Acoustics
AIA approved 1 LU|HSW credit
This seminar explores the ways that the Acoustical Design can affect our built environment. After a brief review on the terms of acoustics the session will begin to review case studies for: Building Code requirements for Environmental Noise, HIPAA and other Patient Care issues, LEED impact on Classroom Design.

This session provides an understanding of trends in technology advancements and their affect on the presentation space; strategic planning tools including typical infrastructure requirements, budget information, and design standards; design checklists for use on your next project. Those involved in the planning of presentation spaces and the support of technology will obtain an understanding of best practices as well as a useful Rules-of-Thumb to guide the initial planning efforts.
Continuing Education Credits
Our Lunch & Learn sessions qualify for AIA continuing education Learning Units (LUs) and count towards health, safety, and welfare (HSW) credit. Upon completion, participants will receive a certificate of attendance. We will submit the course so that your AIA member transcript is updated. Please check each session's description for specific CE credit information.
