Davidson College Athletics Football Stadium & Fieldhouse

Davidson College, located in Davidson, NC constructed their new state-of-the-art Field 76 football stadium with 5,000 fixed seats and 1,000 berm seating, along with a three-story, 56,000sf fieldhouse named Game Changers Field House. This new facility includes locker rooms, strength and conditioning, sports medicine spaces, offices, meeting rooms, and more. The estimated construction budget was $55 million. The multi-functional stadium will not only be used for sporting events but also marching band rehearsals and performances, pep rallies, graduation ceremonies, and other potential collegiate events.

Thorburn Associates provided comprehensive technology and engineering design services for the Audiovisual and Broadcasting Systems for the football stadium, fieldhouse, and track and field venue. The sound reinforcement system covers the entire stadium, including the suites, concourse, fieldhouse, and back-of-house support areas, as well as the track and field venue. The broadband television distribution systems and displays are strategically placed throughout the stadium for optimal viewing. Also included in the design as a design/build scope package was the stadium video scoreboard. The broadcast cabling systems were included at the live broadcast camera locations and cable routing system; the video production suite; and the TV truck interconnect system. Additionally, Thorburn Associates provided basic video system playback (HDMI) on flat panel displays for small conference rooms and projection for team rooms to review game tapes. It was the goal of Thorburn Associates to ensure that the audiovisual and broadcasting systems met the highest standards at Davidson College.
